Competition Format

The competition will have 3 courses. The first two courses take place on Friday and the Saturday. Everybody from amateurs to competitive athletes will compete on Friday and Saturday.

Athletes that have already qualified in a stage 1 CNL competition this season event can use Friday and Saturday as a sanctioned Stage 2 course to qualify for the 2023 Canadian Ninja League National Finals*! The top 5 competitive athletes from each division will move on to the finals in November.

Separate from the CNL Finals qualifier part of the weekend, the top 3 athletes from Friday and Saturday will also move on to compete on the final course on the Sunday to win the Fitset Ninja Cup. The final day is not part of the CNL, but your chance to have your name engraved on the Fitset Ninja Cup!

Your age category is determined by your age as of January 1, 2023. An athlete may compete in any higher category if they choose.

* In order to be eligible to qualify for the CNL National Finals, athletes must already be a Canadian Ninja League member and must have already qualified at a CNL Stage 1 qualifier competition prior to the start of the competition. Athletes that do not meet these requirements can still compete for the Fitset Ninja Cup, but will not be eligible to earn a qualifying spot for CNL National Finals. Looking for an additional opportunity to qualify? Also register for the City Fit Shop Stage 2 competition on August 20th.

Rules

Each course will have between at least 8 obstacles to test your upper body, lower body, and balance. Each obstacle will be worth 1 point for full completion. If you fail an obstacle, you’ll have 1 Retry to use during your run in order to try that obstacle again. Your score for each course is determined by points gained and time to finish the run. Points are the highest priority when determining your final score with time being the second priority. If your time runs out before completing the final obstacle, your final time is reverted to the time at the last obstacle you completed. Most points, with fastest time wins!

The full rule book for the CNL can be found here.
